FROM MILKING COWS TO MILKING HOUSES

John and I commenced our married lives together in 1979, on a dairy farm at nearby Nathalia, a small country town two hours North of Melbourne. Both coming from farming backgrounds, the lifestyle wasn’t new to us. It was here, that we raised our five children, while growing  our farming enterprise, always thinking that hard physical work was the way to get ahead.

DISCOVERING A WHOLE NEW CONCEPT

In the year 2000, I stumbled across a book Rich Dad, Poor Dad. This was to be the beginning of our shift away from our existing conditioned mindset.  This book’s prime message inspired and motivated us to understand the concept of passive income through investing. More simply put “getting money to work for you, not you work for money”

POWER OF LEVERAGE AND COMPOUNDING GROWTH

After further extensive research, we concluded that residential property investment was the best choice of investment for John and myself.  We could take advantage of the  power of leverage and compounding growth, knowing that we would be benefiting from ongoing active and passive income – with the added attraction of safety.

GROWING A PORTFOLIO

In 2002/03, whilst still working our farm, we were able to leverage our available cash and borrow funds to purchase multiple investment properties in several states. Over time, these investment properties grew in value and provided passive income from rent and capital growth.

MAKING PROPERTY INVESTING A FAMILY AFFAIR

We encouraged our growing family to invest in property as well. By now we knew that to utilise the power of leverage and compounding growth fully, it was imperative to invest as soon as possible.  The apprenticeship wage was  (and still is!) basic, however with leverage – and using a little of their own savings –  our sons were able to purchase and commence earning passive income almost immediately.

MOVING ON

We sold our farm and we all moved to the beautiful Sunshine Coast, South East Queensland,  in 2005.

Here we operate our business Harvesting Group Property Services.  We know from experience that the investing process can be stressful and daunting but also know that with support, knowledge and guidance, it can be fairly simple and profitable. Harvesting Group Property Services aim is to provide all the services that are needed for the investor –  education, mortgage broking, rental property management, property sourcing and property sales. Our aim is to work with individuals and their strategies on an ongoing basis, to obtain financial success through passive income.
